“What’s a Fu Dog?” is the #1 question we get.

Everyone wants to know what the name is all about. What’s Fu Dog?

The story is basically that in search of a great name for our firm, we came across these awesome things called Fu Dogs or Foo Dogs or what some might refer to as guardian lions. Statues of fu dogs (as we like to spell it) have traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, tombs, government offices, temples, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy,  and were believed to have powerful mythic protective benefits. Pairs of guardian lion statues are still used today as symbols of protection, to ward off evil spirits from sacred places.

Wikipedia says that the lions are usually depicted in pairs which is totally true and accurate. The pair consists of a male leaning his paw upon an embroidered ball (in imperial contexts, representing supremacy over the world) and a female restraining a playful cub that is on its back (representing nurture).

We adopted the Fu Dog name because we believe your business is sacred. And we want to help you protect, grow, and nurture it like we would our own.

So that is our interesting story. The “FU” is just another spelling of “foo” and we may or may not have been trying to be clever. But, you’ll never know. All we know is that we came up with an unforgettable name that people are always intrigued about.

WELCOME TO THE #FUDOGARMY.
